There is a lot of argument connected with the breed regarding the way it should be trained and bred. It is accepted that owners are most often to blame for the dogs' misbehaviors and aggressive attitude to humans and other pets. Therefore, Pitbull lovers insist on careful screening not only in the breeding stock but also the people who make their decision to buy this breed of dog.

The Pitbull terrier is originally a fighting dog that has retained its strong personality and peculiar temperament traits up to nowadays. This breed is thought to be one of the most efficient property guardians. However, personality qualities of the Pitbull allow this dog breed to be kept as a companion, too.

Pitbulls are generally calm dogs that need some work to do and can be placed together with children. They have a high pain tolerance and will hardly be dissatisfied with any rough play from children. Needless to say, children should be taught to treat the dog in the right way as with any other breed.

For someone to state that Pitbulls are not aggressive dogs would be a vast over assessment. However, treating the breed as the symbol of aggressiveness would also be a mistake. Nowadays, as many people start to agree that the personality of the dog depends strongly on environment and training, much time and effort are devoted to raising obedient Pitbulls as a decisive measure to stop dog attacks.
